European ephemera, largely made up of catalogs and brochures, mostly echoes the timing and ranges as seen in North America, but only since 1957 when licenses with European manufacturers were agreed. Products & corresponding ephemera were released under the name ‘Herman Miller International Collection’ by various manufacturers including Fehlbaum (later Vitra), Hille, ICF, Immobilier & Contura until the 1980’s. There are nuances between European & US products, with the use of Chrome instead of brushed Aluminum & emphasis on a slightly different set of products in Europe. These library materials offer the reader the chance to chart and track the introductions, developments, and changes of Eames products in Europe over the years.
* If you own European Ephemera not seen here by any European manufacturers then we would love to hear from you by using the contact form at the bottom of the page.
