A rather rare version of a classic. This vintage Herman Miller Eames highly fibrous umber DSW shell chair is stunning on its used walnut DSW dowel base. A unique colour, this chair is in a well used vintage condition and is an excellent example of the Eames shell chair. The bold colour compliments the dark walnut colour of the DSW base.
The side variant of the iconic shell chairs was the second version to be produced and was done so in 1952/53. The arm shell was the first one to be produced in 1950 from the combined force of Zenith Plastics and Herman Miller.
The shell has been used lots over years as shown by the few chips on the sides, however it doesn’t take away the character from this rather unique version of vintage chair. This visual impairment is reflected with the discounted price!
The ‘S’ logo indicates this shell originates from Herman Millers’ Summit Plastics factory
