Synopsis: This, the 1952 hard bound Herman Miller Collection catalog, captures the breath-taking pace in which the designs of Charles and Ray Eames had taken off. The first edition catalog of 1948 featured 13 pages of Eames designs, made up entirely of the plywood range of chairs and tables. Fast forward four years and there are now 30 pages packed with many of their most famous designs. The plywood group remains but add to that the fiberglass arm, sides and bent wire chairs as well as the fabulous ESU storage Units. The brochure design follows a similar theme to the 1948 edition with a hardback bound canvas cover (this time in black) and modern art Irving Harper dust jacket. The page layouts are a fantastic combination of photography and incredible schematic technical details.
