Login to ask a questionA vintage Herman Miller greige Eames arm shell with stunning green Alexander Girard designed vinyl upholstery and replaced dark wood RAR base is a great blend. The vinyl finish is the iconic look stunning with its great shade of dark green and sat on the rocking base makes it a coveted lounge piece.
The Eames shells require little introduction with prototypes beginning in the 1940s, production began in 1950. Arm shells were the first to be produced and the side shells were introduced in 1952/1953.
Alexander Girard was commissioned to help design a wide variety of upholstery finishes for both the side and arm shells, providing an alternative to the standard fiberglass shells and expanding the buying options for these chairs.
Individual Characteristics
The arm shell is in a used condition and would benefit from a good clean. The vinyl does not display any lifting and is in a very good overall condition with only some small pinhole marks on the seat section. Please take special attention of the close up images for the colour of the vinyl, though the edging is the grey colour seen in the main images - further pictures can be provided.
The 'C' with the star logo indicates this chair was produced in Herman Miller's Cincinnati Milicron factory.
