Login to ask a questionThis is an exceptional original Herman Miller Eames white arm shell chair finished in gorgeous white Girard vinyl sat on its Modern Conscience RAR rocking base. The finish of this chair is very nice for a vintage chair and coupled with its aged, Modern Conscience RAR base this is a fantastic chair to own!
The arm shell was the first version of the fiberglass shells to be introduced to the world and the RAR base was one of the first offered along with it. Though only available until 1968, the popularity of the RAR base has ensured it has become quite possibly the most sought-after version of this chair and with an aged base from Modern Conscience it looks amazing.
Individual Characteristics
The chair has survived very well, the vinyl is in a good condition with no tears or rips and the fiberglass does not display any chips or cracks in it.
The vintage Modern Conscience RAR base shows some signs of age on the metalwork and on the runners, but it is still strong and sturdy.
The ‘CPI’ logo on the underside of the shell indicates this was a Century Plastics shell produced for Herman Miller between 1974 and 1982.
