Synopsis: This wonderful collaboration is the first hard back bound catalog from Herman Miller to feature the work of Charles and Ray Eames. There were three yearly editions with the first appearing in 1948 and followed up with minor revisions in both 1949 and 1950. We feature the middle 1949 version for the images. The catalog features the work of four designers, George Nelson (& Associates), Charles Eames (& the Eames Office), Isamu Noguchi and Paul Laszlo. Each designer has his own designated sections with a great majority of the pages filled with the work of Nelson and associates. The catalog was something of a masterpiece with high quality print, canvas hard inner cover and artistic dust jacket in a brilliant blue modern art design by Irving Harper. The section for Charles Eames begins with an introduction to the man and designer, followed by a combination of photography and technical details for the Plywood group of chairs and tables.
