Synopsis: The covers of the late 1970’s Herman Miller binder catalogs and accompanying pricing books are adorned with the super distinctive Millerstripe pattern. The emphasis of Herman Miller had changed significantly by 1978 as they were more heavily focused on the workplace and their relevant interiors. This is evident within this catalog with a significant number of pages dedicated to the Action Office and other modular seating groups, with even the Eames offerings being the more work orientated in type. Eames products in general were on a decline at this historical juncture, with just 27% of pages containing Eames designs compared to 46% a decade previously. The binder is a collection of tabbed categories and products pages which were printed one per page. This modular design enabled Herman Miller to release brochure sets for specific product ranges, using the same pages, in tandem with these larger ‘dealer’ binder catalogs that contained the whole portfolio.
