When fitting an upholstered seat shell to an Eames fiberglass side or armchair, these four black plastic washers are what sit between the shell and the base (around the thread lug) — spacing the connection correctly and protecting the shell from direct contact with the mounting hardware. Easy to overlook, impossible to do without.
Made to Herman Miller specification, each washer is 25mm × 25mm × 3mm. Fitting is straightforward — place each washer over the shell mounting hole, position the base, and insert the screws.
