Login to ask a questionThis is one of the most sought after Eames Lounge chair 670 with the spinning ottoman 671. The Holy Grail. It is believed to be made in the first few months in California before Herman Miller started producing them. This early 1956 model does not have any markings on it from Herman Miller.
The spinning ottoman has the original slip on boots and the feet are not drilled. I believe it retains the original leather and goose down filling. The underside of the cushion has the original cardboard backing, but two sides have been repaired with the newer plastic backing. This looks to have been done professionally and by Herman Miller. The shell is five layers of plywood. The rosewood is faded and does have some scratches. The metal base also has some scratches and paint loss.
The lounge chair has the original cones of silence feet with the 1/8" threaded mounts. It appears to have the original leather and goose down filling. The underside of the seat cushion is the newer plastic material but the head rest and back rest retain the original cardboard backing. One of the round clips on the seat shell is broken and there is strips of velcro attached. The shell is five layers and the rosewood veneer has faded. It has several light scratches and one area looks like the veneer was repaired. The metal base also has scratches and paint loss. One of the arm rests has a couple small tears in it and both arm rests have two screws in a wider placement.
I have not done any repairs or refinishing to this set. I have always kept it in its original condition since I bought it. I believe it can easily be refinished if you desire. I have more photos available. This is being sold in 'as is' condition, and is not said to be perfect condition. Buyer understands this and please ask any questions and I will answer them to the best of my knowledge.
