Login to ask a questionInherited from our grandparents, this is an early version of the iconic Eames moulded plywood ebony (black) lounge chair with trivalent chrome base.
Hailed by Time magazine as the Best Design of the 20th Century, the iconic LCW or "Lounge Chair Wood" is a lightweight, low-slung chair, with an expertly crafted moulded seat and back. The back has rubber shock mounts which buffer against jarring movement.
This chair can be complemented, and was originally bought with a classic Eames moulded plywood ebony coffee table (see https://eames.com/en/listing/2720), as well as a second, identical Eames moulded plywood ebony lounge chair in very good condition (see https://eames.com/en/listing/2722). Discount can be offered when bought as a 3-piece set.
We have used this chair in our living for 20+ years, and the use has taken its toll. Where the seat is still in near-perfect condition, the rubber shock mounts of the back rest broke and the original screws of the mounts have disappeared. The back rest has some scratches and the legs have corrosion marks. The chair has been in use with the back rest glued on, but for display only. It needs some further repair if used for seating.
