This particular example features an oblong shock mount connecting the back to the chair frame, as well as a 5-2-5 screw configuration underneath, indicating it is one of the earliest examples of this design-forward chair produced by Herman Miller in conjunction with the Evans Company. This is a design icon, produced by Charles and Ray Eames in the post war years after perfecting their bent plywood technique to manufacture leg splints for soldiers during the war years.
