The stark black of the well-worn leather is wrapped in the beautiful cherry wood which has aged well creating a truly classic looking chair.
Cherry became an excellent alternative to rosewood, creating the same textured look and adding a splash of colour with the natural red of the wood. Herman Miller have continued to use this today, matching it with more unique leather colours – see our grey lounge chair and ottoman – to create a slightly more modern take on the iconic classic.
Individual Characteristics
This particular set is in a gently used condition. The finish of the leather has been lovingly worn in whilst still retaining its buoyancy and with no signs of cracking. It would benefit from a good clean.
The wood too is in a lightly aged condition, light surface marks are expected with being 20 years old, but this set only displays the very minimum of this.
The black label on the underside of the chair and ottoman set indicate they are an original Herman Miller set and were produced between 1970 and 1984.
