The bold brown shells have a wonderful deep colour with fantastic spider-web fibers. Some really nice and desirable examples.
A very consistent colour in the Eames fiberglass series, the deep finish of the brown meant it worked either in large numbers in commercial environments or as smaller units in the household. The earliest examples tended to display more of the fibrous finish of the shell, but as the dyeing process improved, the strength and depth of colour created a much deeper tone to the shells.
Individual Characteristics
As some vintage shells these are in good condition. The deep colour is still strong and the strong fibrous finish is excellent. There are some light age related marks to the shells with some gentle scuffs in some areas and slight abrasions on the seat section but no more than would be expected for their age.
The ‘Herman Miller’ inside the rectangular logo indicates these shells are later production variants of these shells, produced between the years 1980-1993.
