Login to ask a questionSome gorgeous deep ultramarine blue, highly fibrous, original Eames fiberglass side shell chairs for Herman Miller look fantastic on their used maple DSW bases. The rich colour of these shells have stood the test of time well and are excellent examples of the beautiful colours the shell chairs were made available in.
The fantastic range of colours the Eames shells were offered in helped see their popularity increase rapidly and it is easy to see why with such beautiful depths of colour achieved. These blue chairs are an excellent example of how well the dyeing process can stand up to the test of time when looked after. There are signs of age, as one would expect for some 70 year old chairs, but the colour has retained an excellent amount of pigmentation.
Individual Characteristics
The shells may show some signs of use in the form of light surface scratching which may range from being present on the surface of the shells, to the backrest and to the edges, but this is no more to expect than from some chairs that have seen a long life. The colour is wonderful and the newer, used, dowel bases are in a great condition.
The ‘S’ inside the circle indicates these shells were made at the Herman Miller’s Summit Plastics factory.
