Login to ask a questionThe original design idea the Eames had in mind. This all original Herman Miller walnut molded plywood DSR chair is extremely stylish and a real statement piece! Due to limitations at the time, the curved shape of the shell could not be realized in molded plywood, but thanks to modern technology, now it can be!
The traditional design we are used to seeing is the iconic – and highly successful – fiberglass version of these classic chairs and their popularity is undeniable. Following the re-introduction of the fiberglass version, Herman Miller also offered the design in a range of natural wood finishes featuring black finished ash, natural ash, walnut – as seen here – and santos palisander.
Individual Characteristics
This wonderful example of a very unique chair is in very good used condition. Only found in the US, it would prove to be a great piece to add to any collection. The walnut is gorgeous with its distinctive grain and only displays light signs of use along the top and around the edges.
The original DSR base is in a similarly good, used, condition.
The black rectangular label on the underside indicates this is an original Herman Miller shell produced from 2009.
