Product Description

A rather exciting combination, this original, vintage, white Eames Herman Miller arm shell chair is finished in red vinyl and sports a newer, used ash RAR base. This vibrant finish was designed by Alexander Girard and the vinyl finish was a popular choice for many spaces that these iconic chairs were used in.

The upholstery options made available for the Eames arm and side shells vastly increased the range and allowed for them to really maintain that strong versatility they had become known for. The range did not just stop at ‘flat’ colours either, there were also a myriad of patterned finishes made available too and you could even provide your own if you wanted to make the chairs truly personal!

Individual Characteristics

As a vintage shell it is in good condition for its age. There are some natural signs of use and its age but the colour is still exceptional but there is a crack around one of the attachment lugs on the underside of the shell - further pictures are available and price does reflect this.

The vinyl does show areas of its age/use, but it is in a generally good used condition.

The ‘C’ with the star logo indicates this shell was produced in Herman Miller’s Cincinnati factory between 1965 and 1978.
