A rather exciting combination, this original, vintage, white Eames Herman Miller arm shell chair is finished in red vinyl and sports a newer, used walnut RAR base. This vibrant finish was designed by Alexander Girard and the vinyl finish was a popular choice for many spaces that these iconic chairs were used in.
The upholstery options made available for the Eames arm and side shells vastly increased the range and allowed for them to really maintain that strong versatility they had become known for. The range did not just stop at ‘flat’ colours either, there were also a myriad of patterned finishes made available too and you could even provide your own if you wanted to make the chairs truly personal!
As a vintage shell it is in good condition for its age. There are some natural signs of use and its age but the colour is still exceptional and the fiberglass is still strong and sturdy with no cracks or dents.
The vinyl does show areas of its age/use, with a small cut in the backrest and a tiny hole in the seat section, but these are only very small and do not impact the overall usability of the chair.
