Product Description

This is a set of used, original Greige Herman Miller Eames DSW dining chairs attached to a brand-new light oak dowel bases. The warm, earthy tones of the greige shells blend beautifully with the light oak wood, making this dining chair ideal for modernised homes or offices. More importantly, this greige colour would be considered as a rarity, which adds to the value of the chair.

This brilliant example needs little introduction since it is a sought-after original colour Charles and Ray used when first constructing the chairs in 1952/53. The fiberglass chairs have always been popular, and their versatility is increasing this year by year. These chairs really do envisage Charles’s dream of a ‘chairs for the masses.

The earlier shells had a base colour and displayed the wondrous texture of the ‘fibers’ in the shell. Later versions of the shells, introduced by Herman Miller, could also be bought with an upholstered cover, from vinyl to fabric. To create the amazing patterns on the fabric finishes, Charles and Ray looked to the esteemed Alexander Girard to design them.

Individual characteristics

The gorgeous nude greige shell is still shining brilliantly despite its age. Due to its vintage qualities, there are some scratches on the surface, with a few white marks which are barely visible. Despite the marks, the chairs remain in good condition if you also consider that the dowel base is new.

The Cincinnati Milacron logo indicates that it was manufactured during 1958-1965.
