This is a pair of used, original Parchment Herman Miller Eames DSW dining chair, with a newer, used light oak DSW dowel base. The parchment shells have a slight yellow tone, which compliments the light oak dowel base rather well, a colour which serves as a gentler shade than the lemon yellow but still has a bit of colour compared to the light parchment.
The Eames shell series chairs really don’t need any introduction. With early prototypes beginning in the late 1940s, production began on the Eames' dream of 'chairs for the masses' in 1950 with the arm and then the sides later in 1952/53. The original and vintage fiberglass chairs were so versatile and so modern that they only increase in popularity as the years go by.
Fiberglass originals always have a base colour and gorgeous 'visible' fibres in the shell itself. Upholstered versions were introduced by Herman Miller a little later using fabrics and textiles designed by the esteemed designer Alexander Girard.
Individual Characteristics
This used, parchment side shells are in great vintage condition, with subtle signs of usage. There may be some small scratches, and discoloration on the shell, which is expected with age. The light oak DSW dowel base is still very sturdy and will provide excellent stability to the chair. Further images are available upon request.
The 'C' stamp is of an Early Cincinnati Milacron, manufactured around 1958-1965.
