An extremely rare find. A very strong colour, amazing, vintage 2nd Generation Zenith Eames arm shell in distinctive lemon yellow colour and on an original black DAX base. The chair has managed to retain a good colour considering its age, though does show some signs of shock mount bleeding. This is a great example of an all original 2nd generation design icon.
The second generation of shells only saw the change in the moulding process. No longer was the rope edged mould used, instead it was changed to the smoother mould that was used consistently from that point. This meant the rope-edged marks on the side of the shell disappeared and it became more like the shell Charles envisioned when he designed the fiberglass shell.
The shell has aged well, its colour has faded a little but is still fantastic and there are no cracks or dents.
There is some shock mount bleeding evident on the seat surface.
The original black DAX base has been refreshed in black paint.
The large shock mounts but no rope edge shows this is a second generation shell from Zenith Plastics.
