So, you need a dining chair? These original orange Eames fiberglass side shells by Herman Miller on their used maple DSW ‘Dowel’ bases would be perfect. The deep orange shells have a wonderful vibrant colour with fantastic clearly seen visible fibers which are complimented by the dark maple of the DSW bases.
The Eames shell series chairs really do not need any introduction. With early prototypes beginning in the late 1940's, production began on the Eames' dream of 'chairs for the masses' in 1950 with the arm and then the sides later in 1952/53. The original and vintage fiberglass chairs were so versatile and so modern that they only increase in popularity as the years go by.
Fiberglass originals always have a base colour and gorgeous 'visible' fibers in the shell itself. Upholstered version were introduced by Herman Miller a little later on using fabrics and textiles designed by the esteemed designer Alexander Girard.
In great vintage condition, though will benefit from a small clean.
The newer, replacement Herman Miller DSW bases are in good used condition.
Due to natural ageing, some shells may not directly match each other; we do try to match them as closely as possible but natural shade differences may occur.
The ‘C’ with the star logo on the underside of the shells indicate these shells originate from Herman Miller’s Cincinnati factory.
