Pretty isn't she?
I think it's the way the chocolate colored leather blends with the red hue of the rosewood that makes it so eye catching. This vintage set was built in 1980 and has the stamp to prove it. As you'd expect with a chair almost 40 years old it has some signs of a life, perhaps many. There's evidence of near cat-astrophe on both the chair and ottoman, along with marks here and there and a small hole on right arm and 2 on the ottoman. However, this is a true vintage chair and if you're anything like me (or you already have a cat) it doesn't put you off. In many ways I strangely prefer a Eames Lounge in this condition because you know it's been used properly, even if at times it's been mistreated, a vintage piece for me should have testimony of it's years.
Anyway, I've already given it some extra love. I've thoroughly cleaned the leather and panels and then hand oiled them for you. It's a really beautiful chair and is filled with down feathers unlike the new ones and really does feel like a well used baseman's glove. It's super comfortable and the leather has a real nice patina to it. If you're looking for a mint vintage version, this one isn't for you.
